At the Table

(…) Die Kreation aus Videoarbeiten und Performances ist im leerstehenden Untergeschoss des Carsch-Hauses zu erleben. Die Kreation „At The Table“ kreist um ein alltägliches und zugleich mit hoher Symbolkraft besetztes Möbelstück, denn der Tisch ist weit mehr als nur nützlicher Einrichtungsgegenstand. Am Tisch wird jeden Tag gegessen und geredet, aber auch in Konfliktfällen setzt man sich zu Verhandlungen an einen Tisch. Am Tisch wird gefeiert, gestritten, geschwiegen und getrauert. (…) Es entsteht ein erhellendes Kaleidoskop von Familien rund um den Globus in Extremsituationen, das Einblick gibt in persönliche Tragödien, Krieg, Migration, aber auch von der Sehnsucht nach Zukunft erzählt. Ein nicht alltägliches „Familienfest“ im DNT Weimar
(…) Wie in einem Brennglas fokussiert die jüngste Premiere in der ausgebuchten Studiobühne des DNT, was Jung und Alt bewegt. Bianca Künzel und Alexander Steindorf haben „Familienfest“ mit Bürgern entwickelt und auf die Bühne gebracht. Sie spielen engagiert, mit Leidenschaft, souverän, reflektieren damit auch ein Stück weit ihr Leben oder ihnen erzähltes Leben und halten dem Publikum so einen Spiegel vor. Viel Gegenwart, viel Vergangenheit spiegelt sich darin. Zur Sprache gebracht werden Wünsche, Hoffnungen, Erwartungen, Erlebnisse, Emotionen, Politik einst und jetzt. Die teils umfangreichen Monologe bewältigen sie mit einer solchen Bravour, dass der Zuschauer vergisst, dass vor ihm auf der Bühne Laiendarsteller agieren. (…) Es wird geredet, gesungen, gescherzt, gelacht, diskutiert, gestritten, polarisiert (…) Die hoch ambitionierte Inszenierung bietet keine Lösungen an, sondern Sichtweisen, Denkanstöße, temperamentvolle wie auch anrührende Momente. Der Zuschauer (…) entdeckt vielleicht manches, was ihm vertraut ist, gewinnt Einsichten, möglicherweise neue Ansichten, wie divers und damit vielleicht konstruktiv Familie sein kann. Eine bemerkenswerte Aufführung, die quer durch alle Generationen empfehlenswert ist.«

It’s almost like being in a psycho session on the therapist’s couch. There are no taboos. Blunt, sarcastic, sometimes drastic. ‚Do you feel the same?‘, the amateur actors of the Bürgerbühne ask, and launch into an unusually lively ‚love story‘. […] The premiere in the packed studio of the Junges Schauspielhaus was cheered by spectators of three generations.
The scenes, in which everyone juggles with clichés of foreigners and Germans, are fast-paced, playful and light-footed. They alternate with thoughtful moments.

What comes up here are their own experiences. Derived from reality, transferred into theatre – that is a speciality of the Bürgerbühne. They show party scenes and selfie fun on stage, reprimands among neighbours from balcony to balcony. In between, they have cut sequences in which the actors appear individually in front of the audience, they then reveal biographical information, partly poetic, partly depressing, other things are negotiated in dialogues. One scene is particularly funny, a theory of initiation that they develop. Women who are looking for a man are either Bambis or wild boars, Nazli says, before she disappears with Marius through the folding door under the stage.

Integrationspreis für „Garten Eden“ und Borussia

Düsseldorf. The Junges Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf has won the Düsseldorf Integration Award 2016 with its project „Garden of Eden“. In the competition, which was held for the fourth time by the Lions Club Düsseldorf-Karlstadt and the state capital, the theatre project won first place and a prize of 3,000 €. About 50 Düsseldorfers and refugees took part in the project and worked together on a play about utopias, dreams and promises of a foreign world. The refugees were the initiators, actors and protagonists on and behind the stage. With the play, they convey cultural diversity as an opportunity and enrichment. The project will be continued; Café Eden already takes place every Monday at the Junges Schauspielhaus. (…)Rheinische Post, 08. Oktober 2016

Instead of the sound of the voice, the scent of the desired counterpart, does the sound of an incoming WhatsApp determine the degree of interest, the intensity of the heartbeat? In the play „Herzrasen“ (from 13 years), directed by Bianca Künzel, nine Düsseldorfers between the ages of 14 and 71 deal with the forms of communication. […] „Herzrasen“ leaves the audience touched, fulfilled and cheerful. Thank you!“
